The Communication Directorate of the NPP in the Northern Region wish to condemn unreservedly the Vandalism of the NDC Regional Secretariat and Gunshots fired by hoodlums of the party in the Tamale Metropolis today. We think it is about time the NDC comes out clear to disband their vigilante groups and handover names of those who perpetuated the lawlessness for prosecution.

The NPP government under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his able Vice President, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia together with the Northern Regional Security Council laboured so much to restore permanent peace back to the region.

Therefore, we will not sit unconcern to watch the NDC undermine the peace people are enjoying and businesses thriving as a result of the numerous pro-poor social and people-centered policy interventions in the region and the country at large.

It is irresponsible on the part of the NDC and its incompetent leadership in the Region to cause another security crisis for the state at this crucial moment President Nana Akufo Addo together with Health Experts and the security apparatus are working tirelessly to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

The least the NDC can do is to support government in this global pandemic crisis and not engage in broad day thievery which has now culminated into violent confrontations among them. Ghana’s common enemy now is the coronavirus disease and as the President mentioned during one of his national broadcast, we must collectively fight the virus and not fight among ourselves.

We call on the incompetent flagbearer of the NDC, Mr. John Dramani Mahama to call his party members to order and show leadership in the NDC. The government cannot continue to waste state resources to maintain law and order at the expense of other development priorities in the region.

The NPP urges the Ghana Police Service to commence full scale investigations into the disturbance and arrest those hooligans who fired the gunshots at the NDC party office this morning and ensure the law takes its full course to serve as deterrent to other miscreants in the NDC.

Thank You.

Signed

………………..

Mr. Sule Salifu
