The NPP Chairman for Akuapem South Constituency of the Eastern Region, Hon. Michael Ahwireng, has advised all the Npp members of Parliament to consider the interest of the party first then their own interest in this upcoming Internal constituency elections.
And also plan towards the 2024 general elections to help them achieve the break the Eight Election cycle.
He said breaking the Eight shouldn’t be just a slogan but achievable if plans and measures are well calculated.
According to Hon Michael Ahwireng, this will also help avert apathy that Is likely to rise if the MPs continue to influence the outcome of the constituency elections.
This will affect the party in the 2024 as they witnessed in the 2020 general elections where some MPs lost their seats. He said, it all started at the Polling stations to constituencies and affected their fortunes.
Therefore, the interest of the party should be bigger than internal election.
Hon. Michael Ahwireng made the disclosure when he was speaking to some party leaders and delegates at Akuapem Aburi. As he’s also seeking the mandate and the opportunity to lead the Party again in the Akuapem South Constituency.
He appeals to the MPs not to attempt to influence the outcome of the internal elections with money but allow the delegates to decide and elect competent and hardworking executives to lead the Party in the Constituency.
He added that, to help the party to be more attractive and in good standing to help move it forward and break the eight year electoral cycle, all the aspirants and delegates should be decent and avoid foul language against their opponents. And put in mind that it’s an internal election and the focus should be 2024 general elections and they will need each other for campaign.
