The Public Interest and Accountability Commission (PIAC) and Ghana Federation of Disability (GFD) and other bodies have jointly advocated for their inclusion in the oil revenue distribution by the Government.
The President of the Federation of Disability Mr Joseph Hamadzi in his speech congratulated PIAC for recognising the Federation and said provisions were made to take care of persons with disabilities which they are yet to have their own share.
He urged the government to prioritize skills development initiatives when sharing funds for persons with disabilities since various attempts in that regard failed because those initiatives focused on only skills provisions.
Mr Amuzu further said sharing of the funds must also focus on providing skills training and start-up capital for people with disabilities.
The Chairperson for the PIAC ommittee Emereta Professor Elizabeth Ardayifo, in her purpose of gathering shared the highlights of the 2023 PIAC Annual Report on the Management and the use of Petroleum Revenues in Ghana.
Professor Elizabeth further said it has become very necessary government of Ghana to develop an all-in-one framework for every Ghanaian citizen to benefit from the cash flow irrespective of their condition.
The Chairperson also commended the government for ensuring inclusivity in the allocation of revenue through the continuous funding for the free Senior High School policy.
She further urged citizen engagement in the activities of PIAC noting that the citizen must know their representatives on the committee and seek the necessary findings from them on the utilization of the oil revenue.
