he Ghana Police Service on Wednesday, 4th December 2024, announced roadblocks and diversions in some part of Accra for political activities
Assistant Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs,alluded that the decision was taken because of the two main political parties having their final rallies within the same perimeter.
According to her,the Inspector General of Police and POMAB members met representatives of the two political parties(NPP, NDC) to brief them about the roadblocks and diversions and urged them to communicate the information to the rank and file members of their party members.
She added that the inspector general police today led a team from the police management board and the Accra regional commander to visit the locations to ensure there is security law and order and both parties and their supporters are able to hold their rallies without any security breaches.
ASP, Grace Ansah-Akrofi,asserted that the diversions would make sure that police service can coordinate the movement of the supporters to the two rallies without any security hitches whatsoever.
She assure the motoring public, that officers would be at various positions across the affected areas to make sure they are able to go about their duties With very minimum inconvenience.
