The Tafo Pankrono Divisional Police Command has commenced investigations into an assault of a Healthcare Consultant at Tafo Nhyiaeso, a suburb of Kumasi.
The Complaint Livingstone Agyena Nimo, was subjected to a severe beatings by one Police Inspector Robert and subsequently locked him in the police cells.
In his statement to the police, the complainant , Mr Agyena Nimoh, said last Friday there was a misunderstanding in front of his residence at Bremang Kwantwoma, involving other persons, which called for police intervention.
According to him, an unknown person alerted the police that he was capturing the action of the police with his phone hence after his arrest, the police subjected him to severe beatings and later sent him to Tafo Pankrono Police station, where he was detained for some hours before police enquiry bail was granted to him.
Again on the following day, in front of the police station when he went to report himself to the CID, without any provocation, Inspector Robert grabbed him from his car and subjected him to severe beatings.
The Police Officer not satisfied with his action, put him into police custody and released after some hours.
His lawyer (name withheld) disclosed that the police officer told his client that the whole government machinery is in his pocket.
‘l can call the president for us to talk to him; thus, nothing can be done to me’ The police told the victim.
It would be recalled that last Tuesday, same Police Officer, Inspector Robert subjected the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Afigya Kwabre South , Hon Christian Adu Poku , to brutality at Atimatim Taabuom.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command, under the instructions of the Regional Minister, Hon Simon Osei Mensah, is investigating the matter.
