The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to lead the management of SIGA and some 70 entities to sign a performance compact to serve as a bond to monitor their growth rate and contribution to national development.
The signing of the performance compact by the 70 entities is expected to take place at the mövenpic ambassador Hotel on the 26th July 2021.
According to Mr. Andrews Kwesi Frimpong, General manager of finance and administration at the State Interests and Governance Authority, the mandates of State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) includes the establishment of specific performance measures, collecting and analyzing performance information, planning, and managing evaluations, the implementation of performance contracts for entities in which the State has the interest to ensure fairness, transparency, and accountability, amongst others has necessitated this move to get these entities, together with their sector ministers sign the performance compact which according to Mr. Kwesi Frimpong will help ignite their passion to ensure their respective entities thrive which will help increase government revenue and create more employment.
Furthermore, Mr. Frimpong, the General Manager explained that as part of SIGa’s mandate which is the collection of relevant data on the periodic performance of state interest entities for review, evaluation, and reporting to inform decision making, he described this move by the government to sign a performance compact as timely.
SIGA is traceable to the State Enterprise Secretariat (SES), which was incorporated in 1965 under a Legislative Instrument (L.I. 47).
The core mandate of the State Enterprise Secretariat was to promote within the framework of Government policy, the efficient and profitable operations of Statutory Corporations engaged in trade and industry.
