Residents living around Anyaa School Junction in the Ga South municipality have issued a one-week ultimatum to authorities for streetlights and non-functioning traffic lights in the area to be fixed

This follows a protest by the residents on Thursday morning triggered by numerous deaths on the Awoshie-Ablekuma-Pokuase Highway over non-functioning traffic lights.

The protestors highlighted that the traffic lights have been out of service for nearly three years. Their demonstration was sparked by a tragic incident on Wednesday, July 31, in which two pedestrians were hit by speeding vehicles at the problematic intersection.

The community asserts that the malfunctioning traffic lights have created a perilous environment for both drivers and pedestrians, significantly increasing the risk of accidents.

They are calling for immediate repairs to the traffic control system to enhance safety and prevent further tragedies.
