The Director of Socio-economic Development for the Catholic Archbishop of Cape Coast, Very Rev Father Stephen Amoah-Gyasi, who doubles as the Director of Diocesan Caritas of Cape Coast and a Chaplain for the Cape Coast Technical University, as part of an effort to provide safe drinking water for deprived communities has commissioned an ultra-modern mechanized borehole worth over ¢54,250.00 at Assin Hasowodze in the Assin South District of the Central Region.
He had earlier commissioned over 40 mechanized boreholes in various communities within Central Region.
He explained that water is life but the community was not only drinking from unwholesome sources which pose serious health risks to residents, but children were also risking their lives to fetch water from the River ‘ɔkye’ which is the only source of water in the area.
So with the help of his friends in the Rotary Clubs of Canada and the USA, the project became possible.
He, therefore, called on other benevolent organizations and individuals to join hands to reach out to the underprivileged in society to help curtail the inequality gap.
Meanwhile, the beneficiary members of the community who go through arduous times to search for water speaking with expressed gratitude to Very Rev. Father Stephen Amoah Gyasi and his friends of the Rotary Clubs in Canada and the USA for the gesture.
The Chief of the community, Nana Kwaku Armah ‘IV’ pledged his commitment to maintaining the project to last longer to ensure its intended purpose is achieved.
