The Chairman of the Minerals Commission board, Mr S.K. Boafo has put Ghana on the global map by becoming the first Ghanaian to receive the “Gold Star Order of Leadership Excellence” award.
The award was conferred on him by the Global Public Excellence (GPE), an initiative of the former United Nations (UN) Secretary-General, Mr Kofi Anan, which was started in 1999 to honour individuals and institutions that have impacted their countries and the world by their leadership.
The Ambassador of GPE, Dr Kwame O. Fordjour, presented the award to him at a short ceremony held at the premises of the Minerals Commission in Accra today (June 15).
Dr Fordjour explained that the decision to confer the 10th GPE Gold Star Order of Leadership Excellence award on Mr S.K Boafo was in view of his sterling leadership and contribution to national and global development between 2000 and 2020.
According to him,the hardwork, commitments and track record has landed him the global recognition.
He was accompanied by the Chairman of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Innovation, Africa, Nana Akomanyi Essandoh V, who is also the Chief of Gomoa Odumase.
On his part,the board chairman of the minerals Commission,and the first African to receive this global award, Sampson Kwaku Boafo expressed his profound gratitude to organizers of the award and expressed his boy for being recognized for his hardwork.
Present at the occasion were the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Commission, Mr Kwaku Antwi-Boasiako; his two deputies, Mr Joseph Kwaku Nayan and Martin Ayisi and other officials of the Commission.
