Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, along with several other international leaders, has congratulated John Dramani Mahama following his victory in Ghana’s presidential election, marking a significant shift in the nation’s leadership.

Mahama, the candidate from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), was declared president-elect after securing a majority of votes in the recent polls. His victory ended the ruling party’s tenure under President Nana Akufo-Addo, who conceded defeat and pledged a smooth transition of power.

In his message, President Tinubu expressed his warm congratulations to Mahama, acknowledging the peaceful and democratic nature of the election process. He wished Mahama success in leading Ghana and promised to strengthen the relationship between Nigeria and Ghana.

Other leaders from across Africa and beyond also extended their well-wishes to the new president, with many emphasizing the importance of continued stability and cooperation in West Africa. The victory has been hailed as a testament to Ghana’s democratic resilience and the people’s commitment to the democratic process.

Mahama, in his victory speech, emphasized the need for unity and collaboration during the transition, vowing to work towards the betterment of the country and to uphold the values of peace and democracy.
