Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Dr. Mohammed Awal has charged the newly inaugurated Tourism board to create not less than one million jobs within three years to help reduce unemployment amongst the Ghanaian youth.

He believes that the tourism sector can play a pivotal role in reducing unemployment in the nation.

Dr. Awal believes that poor customer care within the tourism sector has been a major factor in poor Performance within the tourism sector hence charged the board to prioritize proper customer care to help boost tourism in the country.

Speaking at the inauguration of the new tourism board, Dr. Awal urged the board to work hand in hand with the Ghana Tourism Authority and discouraged friction between the two.

He believes that with unity, there can be more success stories.

Ghana is currently 3rd in tourism in Africa, but Dr. Awal is hopeful that Ghana can take up the first position with proper mechanisms put in place.

 

Mr. Charles Osei Bonsu, Board Chairman of the tourism Board assured the minister of hard work amongst the board members which he believes will bring total transformation to the Ministry.
