Baffour Addo Kwabo 11; a road safety expert who doubles as the chief of Nchiraa a suburb of Wenchi in the Bono Region has attributed the high rate of road accidents and robberies to the mounting of unauthorized speed ramps on various roads in the country.
Speaking to journalists at Techiman ,Bono East Regional capital,the elite road safety expert quoting the Ghana Highway Act ( Act 540)of 1997 sub section 11 which speaks on Traffic control device should be implemented by various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to help curb the Carnage on our roads.
To further buttress his point ;Baffour Addo Kwaabo explained that Section 40 of the Road Traffic laws legislation is to help guide those in authority to punish people who mount speed ramps illegally should be punished in order to serve as a deterrent to others.
Baffour said recently a bullion van belonging to ABSA Bank was attacked recently by armed robbers at Maampehia off Techiman —Sunyani road who succeeded in taking a lot of money from the van.
He mentioned the need for the demolition of all unauthorized ramps on our roads to ease accidents and robberies in the country because cars also break down on those ramps tantamount to breaking of the cars ball joints, engine leading to such robbery attacks.
Baffour Addo Kwaabo finally advised officials of Ghana High way Authority to join hands with various MMDA’s to demolish all unauthorized ramps and provide them with proper ones if necessary to help in the fight.
