The Vanuatu Trade Commission Ghana, in collaboration with the Africa Diaspora Central Bank (ADCB), has announced a groundbreaking initiative to provide full scholarships for 100 Diasporan students annually at Nyarkotey University College of Holistic Medicine and Technology. This initiative, spanning 12 years, aims to empower 1,200 students with specialized training in Naturopathy and Holistic Medicine while promoting the adoption and circulation of the AKL Lumi currency within the ECO-6 community.

With an allocated budget of $24 million, this scholarship program will cover the full cost of tuition for selected students, ensuring that qualified applicants from the African Diaspora gain access to high-quality education in natural medicine. Each candidate will receive $5,000 annually for the four-year Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) program in Naturopathy and Holistic Medicine.

A New Era for Diasporan Education and Economic Growth

Ghana has long been at the forefront of engaging with the African Diaspora through initiatives like the Pan-African Festival of Arts and Culture (PANAFEST) and the Emancipation Day celebrations. This scholarship initiative builds upon these efforts by offering practical opportunities for returning Diasporans to engage in holistic health practices while also integrating the AKL Lumi digital currency into their economic activities.

Prof. Nyarkotey Obu, President of Nyarkotey University College of Holistic Medicine and Technology, expressed his enthusiasm about the initiative, stating, “This scholarship is a game-changer for the African Diaspora. It not only provides access to a world-class education in natural medicine but also integrates Diasporans into Africa’s thriving economic ecosystem through the AKL Lumi currency.”

Expanding Economic Opportunities Through the AKL Lumi

Beyond education, this initiative strategically aligns with the broader objective of the Africa Diaspora Central Bank to stabilize local African economies by promoting the widespread use of the AKL Lumi currency. The program will encourage economic reinvestment in Africa, fostering sustainable growth and reducing dependency on foreign exchange reserves.

HRM King Rex Timothy McPherson Semako, President of the Africa Diaspora Central Bank and Chairman of ECO-6, highlighted the economic significance of the program, stating, “By integrating AKL Lumi with this scholarship initiative, we are laying the foundation for a financial ecosystem that empowers Diasporans and strengthens African economies.”

Application Process and Selection Criteria

Each year, 100 students will be selected from the African Diaspora and the ECO-6 community based on merit and financial need. The program encourages applications from individuals passionate about natural medicine, community health, and economic empowerment. The goal is to create a skilled workforce capable of advancing holistic healthcare while driving economic transformation within the ECO-6 region. Prospective students are encouraged to apply and be part of this revolutionary initiative that bridges education, health, and economic sustainability.
