Gideon Boako, spokesperson to Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia strongly believes any attempt by Ghanaians to give back governance of the country to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will spell doom for the economy.

He wants the electorate to cast their minds back to what he describes as the abysmal performance of the former John Mahama-led government and reject them in the 2020 polls.

Speaking on Eyewitness News Gideon Boako indicated that the erratic power supply suffered by Ghanaians under the NDC is enough justification to prove Mr. Mahaha’s inability to manage the country to bring the relief Ghanaians so deserved.

“For five years, Ghanaians were subjected to dumsor. For five years, Ghanaians lived in darkness. No one can tell me that it was just when President Akufo-Addo became President and then we had excess capacity overnight and therefore the lights are on. We are only trying to be the man who is trying to apply the soothing balm in the midst of excruciating pain. Every Ghanaian knows that the dumsor they were plunged into was as a result of the mismanagement and incompetence of the economy.”

Gideon Boako, therefore, urged Ghanaians to give the New Patriotic Party (NPP) another term to continue enjoying the transformation the current administration is offering them.

“The new leadership that is committed to providing enough electricity to the people has injected enough capital into electricity management and brought in some level of efficiency. Ghanaians are seeing results. The NDC must admit that Ghanaians voted for change, and indeed they have seen the change in their lives and it is important the team that has brought massive change overnight to Ghanaians is giving the chance to continue the good work they are doing.

Gideon Boako made the remark on the back on recent damning verdict John Mahama gave President Akufo-Addo and his government.

The NDC’s flagbearer, John Mahama, is already courting the support of the Ghanaian electorate as he announced among other things, free health care services and creation of one million jobs for the teeming unemployed youth.

Mr. Mahama claims Akufo-Addo’s tenure has been characterised by corruption, nepotism, job losses among others.

He also says, the payments will be made within his first year to all persons whose monies have been locked up following the revocation of licenses of some financial institutions in the country should he be given the nod in the elections.

Performance not promise-based elections
But, Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia responded to John Dramani Mahama in a writeup.

“The choice Ghanaians face on December 7th is between John Mahama and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Thankfully, both of them have records. John Mahama was Vice President and President for 8 years and Nana Akufo-Addo has been the president for three and a half years.”

“It is not about what you say in opposition. It is about what you did in government. What matters ultimately to Ghanaians is how these two leaders were able to manage the economy and alleviate the suffering of the people when they were given the opportunity to serve,” he wrote.

Dr. Bawumia insisted that President Akufo-Addo has performed better and Ghanaians can continue to trust and rely on his strong and compassionate leadership for another four years.

“On the basis of the performance record, the leadership of this country by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has resulted in much better outcomes than the disastrous outcomes under the leadership of John Mahama. Going forward, we can continue to trust and rely on Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s strong and compassionate leadership in the next four years,” he further added.
