Maxwell Konadu, Black Stars B head coach believes Ghana has all the requisite that can win the African cup of Nations.
Ghana has been paired in Group D with Benin, Guinea Bissau and Cameroun, defending champions.
The Black Stars of Ghana over three decades have failed to win the trophy despite playing in three finals of the tournament and progressing to semi-finals on several occasions.
The team led by former captain Kwesi Appiah has been charged to end the country’s long await for trophy in Egypt this year.
Nevertheless, Maxwell Konadu who was an assistant Coach in the Black Stars believes that Ghana has the quality to win this year’s tournament. But Ghana must lower the expectations and minimize pressure on the players and they can deliver.
“We have quality players to win the Afcon trophy and I have confidence in the team but we must give them time and lower our expectations in the tournament”.
“Though most of our players are not playing regularly at their various clubs but playing in a tournament is different and I know with unity, we can win the Afcon trophy”, he said to Ashh FM in Kumasi.
“We must encourage the team but not to put pressure on them to win the trophy at all cost because every team going to the tournament is also going to compete for the trophy”.
The tournament is scheduled to commence in June 21- July 17 in Egypt.
