The Right Hon Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has said, Parliament shall make both Committee and Plenary sittings on anti LGBTQI+ public in order to know what each member of Parliament stands on the passage or otherwise of the Bill.
He explained that not only Africa, but the whole world is also looking for the outcome of this anti-LGBTQI+ Bill and would not allow any impediment to delay the process on the Bill.
Mr Bagbin made these comments today in his welcoming address to members of Parliament.
In another development, the minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu suggested that Parliament should reconsider the decision of electing MMDCEs in order to give the citizens or the electorates the opportunity to select a particular person to lead them as a District Chief Executive.
He explained that considering recent happenings during the election of MMDCEs where the electorates kept voting against government nominees clearly shows that, the people have a preference with respect to who should be their leader.
The majority leader also in his welcoming address encouraged ministers to be proactive by engaging the various Committees in making sure the needed works are done to get their budget accurate for the minister for finance, Ken Ofori-Atta comes toon 17 November 2021 for budget estimate approval.
He urged members of Parliament and advised that this sitting has a very limited time and would therefore have to take every work seriously before the House goes on recess come December 2021.
