The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has disclosed that about 1, 400 institutions and individuals operating in Ghana have registered to seek accreditations since the implementation of the cybersecurity regulatory regime in March.

A press release dated February 20, 2024, said CSA has registered 1,137 Cybersecurity Professionals (CPs), 194 Cybersecurity Service Providers (CSPs) and 52 Cybersecurity Establishments (CEs), bringing the number to 1,383.

It added that while some institutions and individuals have been issued provisional licences pending the issuance of a final licence, others are at various stages of the licensing and accreditation process.

The CSA also stressed that per the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038), individuals and businesses without licences or accreditation are prohibited from conducting business in Ghana

Reiterating its commitment to enforcing the provisions of the Cybersecurity Act, the CSA warned that individuals and businesses offering cybersecurity services without a licence or accreditation will face the full rigours of the law.

Meanwhile, the authority has established a licencing and accreditation clinic to facilitate the process for entities.

The clinic is at the authority’s premises, “on the 3rd floor of the NCA Tower, Airport City, Accra, effective February 8, 2024, to assist all CSPs, CEs, and CPs who qualify but are having difficulties in completing the online application process for a licence or accreditation”.

It added that it is liaising with other institutions to ensure that the provisions in the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038) are enforced to the letter.
