In what may seem to be an impossible event saw the daylight, when the Director-General for the National lottery Authority was surprisingly added to a fake WhatsApp platform created by lotto fraudsters to defraud him and a few others by providing them fake winning numbers in exchange for money.
The Director-General of the National Lottery Authority, Samuel Awuku gave an account of how he was shockingly added on a WhatsApp platform created by the fraudsters for lotto numbers.
“so they added me to a WhatsApp page, a whole Director-General for National Lottery, for fake lotto numbers which do not exist. We need to be very vigilant” he added.
Mr Awuku further stated that “the lotto fraudsters have created several Facebook accounts, WhatsApp and other social media platforms using the logo and pictures of the staff of the Authority and pictures of other people to defraud unsuspecting persons.
In their bid to get rich quick, the fraudsters are able to convince people to make mobile money transfers to them in exchange for fake winning lotto numbers.
The lotto fraudsters receive various sums of money from their victims in order to stake lotto numbers for them”.
The NLA Director General further stated that “the National Lottery Authority(NLA) has not authorized nor appointed any individual or group of individuals to offer winning lotto numbers to the public.
The lottery is a game of chance and it is very impossible to foretell winning numbers before draws because the outcome of draws is conducted in a very transparent manner which has always been open to the public”.
He made these statements on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Tutu Akuapem in the Akuapem North District, when the National Lottery Authority’s Good Courses foundation inaugurated a police station for the community.
