The All People’s Party (APC) has out-doored Rev. Dr. Samuel Worlanyo Mensah as running mate for its flagbearer Hassan Ayariga in the December 7 elections.

Dr. Hassan Ayariga whose birthday coincided with the unveiling ceremony said the new third force would secure victory for the party in the December 7 elections with a “one touch” victory.

However, he said if the APC goes alone, it would push the election into the second round and eventually win.

Rev. Mensah is also the Head Pastor and Presiding Bishop of Christ White House Chapel in Ghana.

Before joining the APC, Rev Dr Mensah an economist had announced his intention to contest the Presidential Election as an independent candidate.

Dr Ayariga insists that his running mate’s religious portfolio shows he is “a man of God, so no corruption.”

Hassan Ayariga in June this year announced his plans to ban the operations of forex bureaus in Ghana if elected President.

This, he says, will help the cedi gain value against foreign currencies.

He said the future of Ghana was the youth unfortunately they resorted to gambling because there was no vision for them.

Dr. Hassan Ayariga is also proposing to ban the importation of some foodstuffs and encourage farmers to produce for local consumption.

He believes Rev. Mensah is best suited to help him turn the country’s economic fortunes around if given the nod.

Dr. Ayariga stated that his philosophy is centered around making a positive impact, driving economic growth, and promoting social justice. With his diverse experience and expertise, he is a respected voice in Ghana’s economy, and leadership, landscape”.

In delivering his acceptance speech, Rev Dr Mensah said he believes Ghana needs an all-inclusive government, drawing the enviable human resources within industry and academia, sectors of the economy and across the political divide to create a prosperous nation.

He said” Ghana is currently divided hence the need to build a united nation. To this, he said calls for an independent leader who will bring together well-meaning Ghanaians across the political and ⁰social divide to build a united Ghana”.

Rev Dr. Mensah stated that the country’s fortunes seemed to be unparalleled amongst its peers, however without everyone’s input, peace, togetherness, unity in diversity and building bridges that could build the country.

The ACP’s running mate appealed to all other independent presidential aspirants and indeed other smaller parties to join forces with the APC to wrestle power from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and break the duopoly of NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The proposed alliance dubbed: “The Great Alliance,” he said is to form a formidable political force to reshape the political landscape of the country and unlock the full potential of “fellow Ghanaians.”

He believes that the individual efforts of small political parties will be of greater benefit under the ticket of the ACP.

“I am convinced that this alliance is the right step towards building a brighter future for all Ghanaians. To my fellow independent candidates and leaders of small political parties, we need to consider the greater good.
