A 6-year-old boy Kelvin Ofori Sarfo known as (Kobby) has been drowned at Atonsu in the Asokwa municipality of the Ashanti Region after a heavy downpour.

The unfortunate incident which occurred yesterday around 5 pm has left residents in a state of shock.

Speaking to the media today after visited the bereaved family, parents of the deceased stated emphatically that a friend of their son came to their house and called their 6-year-old to swim in the rain which lead to his death.

According to their parents, Madam Abena Konadu and Mr. Richard Boakye said a colleague came and informed them that their 6-year-old boy had drowned after he went chasing his sandals from the gutter where he fell in a stream.

According to the reporting personnel from Ghana national fire service and police went to the scene to search for the boy but all their efforts proved futile.

The Atonsu traditional council has also performed libation to the gods today but also proved fertile.

However, the Sompahene of Atonsu traditional council Nana Oteng Mensah Bonsu charged the road contractors to make sure to covered abandoned gutters and potholes on our to avoid calamity in our various.
