The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GIHOC Distilleries, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has refuted allegations that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has given him the Sefwi Aboso Glass Factory as a gift as their in-law.”
Explaining this to the media, Mr. Jumah stated that the Aboso Glass factory upon a request by the management of GIHOC was given to the company by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo with the condition of reviving it to serve the needs of GIHOC through a Public Private Partnership which according to him will see some 90 million dollars being pumped to revive the factory by private investors.
According to him. the allegations are mere fabrications that have been spread by people who want to tarnish his image and destroy the company.
“I heard people saying that Akufo-Addo has given me the Aboso Glass Factory. I didn’t know whether the people saying this was dreaming. if you see a building somewhere and you don’t know about it you should go and ask the people involved. I have been receiving constant calls from people across the whole world saying that Akufo-Addo has dashed me, his in-law. the Aboso Glass Factory.”
He further explained to media men that “the factory has been closed and has not been operating for so many years due to lack of machinery, maintenance and capital but the government is supporting GIHOC Distilleries to rehabilitate the factory to start actual production by the middle of 2023.
The factory, located in the Prestea Huni-Valley District, was once a vibrant company that manufactured and supplied glasses and bottles for the beverage industry in Ghana and beyond.
However, the factory has been closed and has not been operating for so many years due to lack of machinery, maintenance and capital.
