Alexander Djiku won the Man of the Match award in Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations group B opener against Cape Verde.

The Montpellier born defender was Ghana’s standout performer in the game on Sunday. Djiku scored the equaliser for the Black Stars in the 56th minute and also defended magnificently despite the last gasp winner from the Blue Sharks.

Alexander Djiku who made his debut in October 2020 in an international friendly against Mali, has represented Ghana 25 times and scored two goals.

He lasted the entire duration of the match and showed class, fitness and leadership at the back.
