Kumasi Asante Kotoko maintained their dominance over their arch rivals Hearts of Oak after Sunday’s 2-1 win at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The away side shot into the lead 11 minutes into the game as Justice Blay headed in from a free kick.

An exciting game ensued in the rest of the first half as both sides had a fair share of the action on the day.

The Phobians returned from the halftime break in search for an equalizer and their efforts were rewarded when Joseph Esso managed to slip one past Kwame Baah in post for Kotoko in the 64th minute.

Just when the game looked like it was going to end in a draw, the referee awarded a penalty to Kotoko after a handball incident in the 18-yard box.

Naby Keita slotted home from the spot kick and gave the Porcupine a win in a full-house Accra Stadium.

At the end of the game, Justice Blay was named as the Best player and received some prizes from NASCO.

Asante have moved up the league log to 4th position while the defeat sees Hearts of Oak lying 12th on the league table.

The league continues next weekend with Hearts traveling to Dawu as guests of Dreams FC while Kotoko face Liberty Professionals in Accra.
