The Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG), UPSA Chapter on Thursday 6th January 2022 organized a handing over ceremony to swear into office new Executives to steer the affairs of the Association for the 2021/2022 academic year.

The Executives are Mr. Albert Asomani; President, Mr. Peter Zumah; Vice President, Ms. Hilda Nyarkoa Bekoe; Secretary, Mr. Felix Addokwei Addo; Organizer, Mr. Vincent Hattoh; Financial Secretary and Ms. Farida Laryea; Gender Commissioner.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Dean of the UPSA Graduate School Prof. John Kweku Mensah Mawutor, applauded the past Executives for the good work and support they gave to the Graduate School and UPSA in general and charged the new executives to replicate it.

Prof. Mawutor in his speech advised the new Executives to be creative in their style of leadership and move away from the traditional way of leading students where Student Leadership turns to fight management but rather prospect for a lucrative investment where GRASAG can set up a Business Venture which can employ a number of students to stay relevant in the era of contemporary Student Leadership.

 

The Chairman for the occasion, Mr. Martin Kwabena Kwakye who is the Director of Radio for Kencity Media Ltd commended the Management of the University of Professional Studies, Accra for their hard work in training professionals for the Socioeconomic Development of Ghana and the rest of the world. He charged the new executives to be faithful Stewards to steer the affairs of GRASAG-UPSA for collective benefits of Graduate Students.

The immediate past President of the Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG), UPSA Chapter, Mr. Daniel Opoku Agyemang called on the new executives of the association to be united and focused in their quest to serve their members, he was thankful to Management for the friendly environment they created for him and the other executives to serve students.

The former President said despite all the challenges his team faced, they were always united to work together to deliver on their mandate and advised Mr. Albert Asomani, the new President to have a very good human relation with Management, his executives and the Students in general to be successful in his Administration.

 

In his maiden address, the new President, Mr. Albert Asomani expressed gratitude to members for the show of confidence and exceptional mandate conferred on him and the other executives. He also thanked his predecessor and the past executives their good work.

The President of GRASAG assured members of the association that his team would do its best to restore confidence and trust which members have lost in the association.

He implored the new leadership association to stand out in the discharge of their duties. He also extended a hand of invitation to all those who contested in various positions but could not make it to come on board to work towards the forward march of GRASAG-UPSA.

 

Mr. Asomani indicated that under his term of office, he would build stronger ties between GRASAG and the School of Graduate Studies to find solution to challenges postgraduate students face in UPSA.

 

The new Executives were sworn into office by the Vice-Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, Dr. Samuel Antwi.

The ceremony was attended by Management members and Lecturers of the Graduate School, a section of students and GRASAG Executives from sister Universities.
