As part of strengthening the measures to prevent a rapid spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, markets in the Assin Fosu municipality has been closed down today for a massive disinfection/fumigation exercise across all public market centers within the jurisdiction. This is in line with the President’s directive on measures to contain and prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the country.

Speaking to Oman FM reporter Isaac Donkoh , he reiterated that the marketers are grappling with the directive to adhere to the prescribed physical distancing. Due to this the Assembly have had to adopt a policy of alternate day for alternative products, in a bid to decongest the markets and ensure social distancing.

On his part, Mr. Emmanuel Agyare the municipal environmental health officer said, this exercise has become necessary to rid any looming infestation that threatens the municipality. “Market will reopen the next day for normal business to continue.” he said.

In an interview with Oman Fm Reporter Isaac Donkoh, he made mention of places to benefit from this exercise is not only the markets but institutions such as Ghana Education Directorate, Health directorates, Agric offices and all places of convergence. He laud all traders for complying with the directive and properly stored their wares to ensure the successful completion of the exercise.
