The acting Chief of Diaba Traditional Area in the Dormaa District in Bono Region,Nana Oppong Kyekyeku I has appealed to government to setup a snail factory for export on their land since their forest reserve is noted for breeding thousands of snails.

According to him,Diaba lands in the 80s was noted for breeding huge numbers of snails in the country but lost this track record due to deforestation and illegal mining activities.

Nana Oppong Kyekyeku stated that with the intervention of government the community can export snails to other country which will boost the economy and bring development to Diaba Community.

He made this call today, during a courtesy call by the lands and Natural Resources minister,Kwaku Asomah Cheremeh as part of his tour to the Bono Region.

The Minister is touring some selected forest reserves to monitor the work done by the youth in Afforestation Program and also see it impact on our forest reserves.
