The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) commence investigations into the fire outbreak at Opera Square in Accra on Monday, April 25, 2022.

The service says they have heard the building belongs to a Chinese businessman whose work was going on in the building at the time of the fire but only investigations can confirm that.

A wholesale shop known as MOOVED Home Appliances at Opera Square in Accra, opposite Melcom in the Central Business District got burnt on Monday.

Items such as bags, shoes, and other home appliances have been burnt down to ashes.

Reacting to the development that there was a welding work in the building which could have probably caught fire, ADO II Alex King Nartey, who is with the Public Affairs Department of the GNFS said “investigations are ongoing to ascertain what caused the fires”.

“We heard it belongs to some Chinese nationals but we are on it”.
