The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorko Botchwey says government is considering to review the prices of passport acquisition in the coming days.

According to the Minister, government over the years subsidies the processes of acquiring a passport which brings high burden to government.

She said cost of processing material continue to go up and it will be important to review the prices for government to break even but not to make profit.

The Minister indicated that the duration period of passport has been increased from 5-10years and all these measures are being implemented to ensure efficiency and reduce the pressure at the passport office.

According to the Minister, the prices for passport application remains 50/100 cedis until final review has taken effect by the close of the year.

The Minister made this known during a press conference after the commissioning of Koforidua and Tema passport application centers

Madam Shirley Ayorko Botchwey also said the the introduction of online services has solved the shortage of the passport forms and elimination of middle men out of the system.
