The Minister for Health, Mr. Kwaku Agyeman Manu has told Parliament that, the government through the Ministry of Health is taken every necessary step to restore all Magnetic Resonance Imaging ( MRI ) machines in government hospitals across the country.

According to the Minister, currently, there are four (4) out of seven MRI machines in the country functioning which is making the situation difficult for Ghanaians that needs the services of these machines (MRI)

Mr. Agyeman Manu explained that the four hospitals that still have a functional MRI machine include the University of Ghana Medical Centre, Korley-Bu Teaching Hospital, Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge) the finally Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital which was faulty just last week but the government has imported the broken part to fix the machine soon.

The Minister revealed that his Ministry is initiating a procurement process to purchase a new brand of MRI equipment when funds are available since the current types are very costly including its maintenance.

Mr. Kwaku Agyeman Manu made these known when he appeared before Parliament to answer a question filed by MP for Ketu North who doubles as Deputy Minority leader, James Klutse Avedzi, seeking to know from the Health Minister the total number of MRI machines Ghana has and those that are currently working.
