The Catholic Bishop of Jasikan, Most Rev. Gabriel A. A. Mante has welcomed the exploration of iron ore in the Oti Region, calling for broader stakeholder consultation.

In a joint statement between the Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation, the Jasikan Catholic Bishop and the Oti Regional Minister, there was an agreement between all parties that mining of iron ore in the Oti region will contribute positively to the economy of the local people.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation (GIISDEC) has embarked on a stakeholder engagement tour in various iron ore host communities.

It forms part of efforts to promote a mutually beneficial relationship between GIISDEC, critical stakeholders, potential investors and host communities.
