Ghana has marked the 2022 Green Ghana Day with an attempt to plant 20 million trees.

Local government officials, Ministers, and traditional authorities-led efforts to plant seeding across Ghana’s regions.

The Green Ghana Day was introduced as part of a national afforestation and reforestation programme to restore the lost forest cover of Ghana and contribute to the global effort to mitigate climate change.

In the Greater Accra Region, the Chairman of the Lands commission board, Mr. Alex Quainor, Mr. Benjamin Arthur, the Deputy Executive Secretary and the Head of Operations Dr. Mrs. Theodora Mends led a tree planting exercise at the new Lands Commission Office complex in Accra.

“Let’s all be stakeholders. Let’s all join hands to green Ghana. Planting a tree today is necessary for our future tomorrow”Mr. Benjamin Arthur, chairman of the lands commission board said.

He further called on critical institutions and persons in the region to support the effort to Green Ghana.

The team also inspected trees that were planted last year in the area, which we’re doing massively well.
