The Deputy Majority Leader and MP for Efutu, Alexander Afenyo Markin has explained that the Minority was just being political in their bipartisan private member motion today.

He explained that, even though the majority agrees with the call of the minority for probe into the account of COVID-19 funds, they should have exercised patience for the appropriate institution mandated by the Constitution such as the Auditor General to carry such mandate therefore, the NDC minority should have allowed such office to carry its mandate as permitted by the laws of the land.

Mr Afenyo’s response came up when he was responding to a press conference held by the minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu expressing their displeasure over the decision taken by the first Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr Joseph Osei Owusu by rejecting the private member motion, asking Parliament to constitute a bipartisan Committee to investigate into the expenditure of COVID-19 funds since 2020.
