This brings to twenty thousand the number of antigen testing machines NILEX has presented to the country, having donated same number to the Ghana Health Service last week.

The Company had earlier supported the national COVID-19 response with Polymerase Chain Reaction, PCR machines to facilitate COVID-19 testing.

At a presentation ceremony, the Director of Legal Services, NILEX, Alex Osei- Owusu, said the machines are to boost national mass testing capacities, especially with the recent rise in COVID-19 cases.

He noted antigen-based testing has become necessary to speed up the testing turnaround time.

He said the machines has been developed to detect the presence of the COVID-19 virus in not more than 15 minutes. Mr. Osei-Owusu said the gesture was in response to appeals by the Health Ministry to the private sector to support the national fight against covid-19.

Receiving the items the Minister of Health Kwaku Agyemang-Manu expressed appreciation to the company, describing it as a demonstration of a responsibility to give back to society.
