The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has collaborated with the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council and the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Henry Quartey to flush out miscreants from the lotto industry within the Greater Accra Region.

According to the Director-General of the National Lottery Authority, Mr Samuel Awuku, the NLA finds itself in-between some illegal operators within some parts of Accra Tudu and the Accra Arts Centre, which according to him all efforts to halt illegalities has failed.

Mr Awuku expressed frustration in the existence of illegal operators which according to him is costing the NLA and nation millions of cedis.

Sammy Awuku stated that clamping down on illegal lotto operators which is the banker to banker, and putting in place a permanent task force will be a step in the right direction between the Regional Coordinating Council, the Greater Accra Regional Minister and NLA.

He admitted the fact that the NLA’s largest market in the Greater Accra Region and expects Stringent measures to be put in place to ensure the safety of staking lotto.

He made this call today, Monday 10th March 2022, when the Greater Accra Regional Minister Mr Henry Quartey and his entourage paid a working visit to the National Lottery Authority.

On his part, the Greater Accra Regional Minister Mr Henry Quartey assured the Director-General of the National Lottery Authority, Mr Awuku that, his outfit will as a matter of urgency form a committee comprising of the police, National security, MMDCEs and other officials to ensure that illegal lotto operators within the Greater Accra Region are flushed out.

He further noted that some 1,200 personnel who are currently undergoing security training will in two weeks graduate to help in the operation clean your frontage initiative, hence the personnel can play an additional role by flushing out these illegal lotto operators.

Henry Quartey further assured the NLA of his full commitment to ensuring that adequate revenues are raised for the state.
