A 9 member board of directors to oversea the running of the Papaye Recreational Village was on Thursday inaugurated at Konkonuru, near Aburi in the Eastern Region.


The Papaye Recreational Village is a Papaye Fast Foods Limited project, which is located on 130- acre site, is to serve as a relaxation and event centre as well as help promote tourism in the country, and phase one of the project will be commissioned in December.


This is part of Papaye’s expansion and diversification project aimed at job creation, socio-economic empowerment, and the overall economic contribution to Ghana’s growth among others, according to the chairman of the Papaye, Samir Kalmoni.


The board of directors which is chaired by The Chief of Aburi, Otoobuor Djan Kwasi II, were charged by the District Chief Executice for the area, Frank Aidoo to facilitate the dream of the owners, and ensure high standards to make Ghana the beacon in tourism.

In an interview with Devine Kwadwo Asiedu, Chief Executive officer of Papaye Fast Foods, on the sidelines of the inauguration, he mentioned that company will, in December, launch its Recreational Village in Konkonuru in the Eastern Region hence the need to have all its corporate structures in place.


He enumerated some of the features and benefits the projects will have for the community in particular and Ghana in general

The Chief of Aburi, Otoobuor Djan Kwasi II in an interview with NET2 TV, was full of praise for the project and highlighted the economic impact such an enormous project has on the community.

The project, which began 20 years ago, would employ 600 workers and would have a restaurant, an amusement, sports centres and others.
The second phase of the project, would have a hotel, zoo and a vast area of garden flowers and tree species on the 130- acre land, to help promote domestic tourism, education and research and a catalyst for the local economy.
