Parliament today accepted the proposal from the finance minister ,Ken Ofori Atta to lower the cap of the stabilization fund from three hundred million Dollars ($300 million Dollars) to a hundred Million Dollars ($100 million Dollars) in other to enable the ministry to mobilize the one billion Dollars which the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has task the ministry to raise into the coronavirus Alleviation program fund.

Mr Ofori Atta, said the one billion Dollars is aimed to mitigate the interruption of economic activities and and the hardships imposed on the people of Ghana by the coronavirus pandemic and to rescue and revitalize the industries which has been affected by the disease.

He explained that, the president charged the finance ministry to make this money available to households and businesses particularly micro, small and medium enterprises.

He urged Parliament through the finance committee to grant the authorization to access the requisite amount from the contingency fund to confront the challenge that has engulfed the country with respect to the coronavirus.
