The Rt Hon Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has stated that Parliament would hold the Executive arm of government accountable for their Stewardship.

He added that, for Parliament to be successful in that decision, Parliament itself must be open, transparent and accountable to the people of Ghana.

Hon Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu on his part called on Parliament to set a rule to stop governments from borrowing beyond Seventy ( 70 %) Percent of the GDP. He said, a country like Ghana borrowing around Eighty percent (80%) of the GDP amounts to bankruptcy and something must be done to save the situation.

He further called on President Akufo-Addo to show goodwill by reshuffling his ministers to help move this country move forward.

Mr Haruna Iddrisu further called on the government to set up a committee to investigate the issues involving the Achimota forest lands for Ghanaians to have clarity on the matter.

Finally, the Majority leader, Mr Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has also called on Parliament to have a holistic approach towards the constitution, Article 286/5 which mandates public officers to declare their assets since that section of the constitution exempts the Auditor general, Council of State, Serious fraud Office, the Special Prosecutor including the MMDCEs are all left out from declaring their assets by the constitution of Ghana.

The comments of these leaderships came up today when they were giving their welcome address in Parliament today.
