The Municipal Chief Executive for Adentan Municipality (AdMA), Alexander Nii Noi Adumuah has tasked residents of the municipality to rekindle their communal spirit and ensure that their environments are clean.

Mr. Adumuah gave the charge at Adenta, at the launch of “Operation Clean Your Frontage” for the Adentan Municipal Assembly.

The “Operation Clean Your Frontage” campaign which is to kick start in February, would begin with a mass education and sensitization programme.

The campaign, which was launched by President Akufo-Addo, is a clarion call on all citizens to appreciate that keeping their environment clean and green is one of the prerequisites for leading a healthy and happy life.

The campaign also is to enforce sanitation regulations in the City as part of the “Make Accra Work” agenda.

Mr. Adumuah commended the initiative by the Regional Minister to deal with sanitation problems and make the region clean in the realization of the President’s vision to make Accra the cleanest city in Africa.

“The time has come for us all to recommit ourselves towards national development and this initiative has come to address the sanitation situation,” he added.

To ensure the operation succeeds, the Adentan Assembly has formed a special task force known as the “Saman Saman,” made up of the Environmental Health Unit, Municipal Guards and National Service personnel to ensure strict adherence to the sanitation bye-laws by the residents.

The Head of Sanitation and Public Health in the Adentan Municipality, Mr. explained to the media that, the task force will carry out its mandate and stated that the summons would be served to non-compliant residents as a deterrent to other residents while appealing to the community that cleaning the environment was a collective effort and not that of the government alone.
