Samira Foundation under the auspices of the Office of the First Lady, Mrs Samira Bawumia today, continued the initiative to offer skills training and employment opportunities to the teeming youth.

The Awutu Senya East constituency was fortunate to host the Foundation today in Kasoa as the Foundation has selected the Constituency to be one of the Constituencies that will benefit from the initiative.

Speaking at the event, the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development who double as Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East constituency, Hon Mavis Hawa Koomson explained that the Foundation is going to train 1500 female youth between the age of 16 and 24 and they would be fully employed after the training however, the Foundation will give start up capital to those who will not want to be employed but prefer to have their own establishment.

Hon Hawa Koomson hinted they have already engaged the Chiefs, Opinion Leaders and other stakeholders who matter as far as the exercise is concerned and they were all satisfied with the initiative.

The MP said, through the consultation process, they realized that a lot of the youth lack the needed skills to be able to engage in any meaningful economic activities therefore, she sees the initiative of Samira Foundation as a timely intervention that will go a long way to empower the female youth economically.

Hon Hawa Koomson emphasized, she has been doing this skills training for the youth since she became MP and it has not been easy in terms of finance therefore, she consider the initiative by H.E Mrs Samira Bawumia as a sigh of relief and it has given her an opportunity to channel the resources she was using in that field to other equally needful activities for the Constituents.

On her side, the Project Advisor to Samira Foundation, Madam Akua Asantewaa explained that they are starting the registration today in order for them to know the number of Female Youth who needs the training. She added that they will come in two weeks time for the training.

She indicated that those who will qualify for the training would be informed via text message before they proceed to the next stage of the program.

She further said, an applicant has the right to choose any skills training she likes and the person can change the training she has chosen without any difficulty.
