A medical practitioner has appealed to Ghanaians to do well to take their personal hygiene seriously in the wake of the outbreak of the Convid-19 better known as the Coronavirus in Ghana.

Dr. Alfred Adu-Boateng, a Snr Medical officer at the Pentecost Hospital in Madina, speaking to NET2 TV, on Monday, said the outbreak of Convid-19 is a challenge to all especially the World Health Organisation, and stressed the need for diligence in handling of the outbreak to contain the viral disease.

The medical officer took the opportunity to give a background to the health pandemic, stating what the corona-virus is and its effects on humans.

Dr Adu Boateng reiterated the call by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for citizens to be conscious with their personal hygiene and stressed the need for citizens to take hand washing seriously.
He also advised citizens to eat well and consume more local diets.

Dr Alfred Adu Boateng admonished those abusing alcohol as a remedy to the viral spread and warned consumers to desist from its misuse and abuse. He appealed to the general public to adhere to the President’s directives from his broadcast to the nation and abide by the simple measures

The threat of the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19 after its devastating effects in Asia notably, China, South Korea and Iran as well as Italy, Germany, The UK, France in Europe. The USA is also feeling the effects with over 3,000 positive cases and 62 deaths.

Over 150,000 people have been affected globally, with over 3,000 deaths and over 70,000 recoveries.
Ghana on Sunday declared that 6 persons have been confirmed positive, out of over 100 tested cases.
Ghana recently placed a travel ban on travelers who are from countries with over 200 persons infected.
