The Government of Ghana has urged the transport unions to embrace electric vehicles as a way to reduce climate change in the country.
According to the Ministry of Transport, reducing carbon emissions is just one way that governments all over the world are trying to limit the negative impact their countries have on the environment, and Ghana is no different.
Speaking at the stakeholder’s engagement in Accra, Ebenezer Amankwa, Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Legon said E-vehicles are a way to solve climate change and the cost of fuel in the country.
He added that E-Vehicles offer numerous advantages, including lower emissions, reduced dependence on fossil fuels, and potential cost savings.
The stakeholder’s engagement brought many transport unions including GPRTU and GRTCC.
However, the General Secretary of the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC), Ohene Yeboah also welcomed the introduction of electric vehicles.
He urged other transport unions to embrace E-vehicle as a way to reduce the cost of fuel in the transport business.
