The Minister for Transport Hon Kwaku Ofori Asiamah in the company of Bono Regional Minister Hon Justina Owusu Banahene together with the Managing Director of Ghana Airports Company Limited, Mr Yaw Kwakwa, on Monday, paid a working visit to the Sunyani Airport to inspect the progress of work.

The Airport Rehabilitation Project comprises of the extension of the current runway from 1,282m to 1,400m asphalt, facelift of a single hall that serves both the arrival and the departure halls among others.

Hon Ofori Asiamah speaking to Oman Fm’s Kwame Osahene after the inspections said the rehabilitation work is expected to be completed by May, 2021, which has 95% of the work done and when completed will facilitate smooth transportation.

Hon. Ofori Asiamah said Government is committed to making the country an Aviation Hub within the Sub-Region and that the Sunyani Airport forms an integral part of Government’s vision to expand the frontiers of the Aviation industry in the country.

He therefore appealed to those encroaching government lands to desist from it because as part of safety and security regulations those structures will be pulled down in due course without compensation.
