Twenty-eight of the premature babies who were evacuated from al-Shifa hospital yesterday have arrived in Egypt through the Rafah crossing.

Dr Mohamed Salama, who is the head of the neo-natal unit in al-Ahli Emirates hospital in Rafah – where the babies were evacuated to – told the BBC that they did not know where exactly the babies would be going when they arrived in Egypt.

“A committee from the Egyptian Health Ministry will receive them and then will decide,” he told the BBC Arabic.

As we reported earlier, Egypt’s minister of health is said to be at El Arish airport, close to the border with Gaza.
