Parliament today passed the much anticipated vigilantism and related offences bill, 2019 following the third reading of the bill in Parliament .

The Minister of Information, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah moved the motion for the third reading of the bill.

The bill seeks to disband political party vigilante  groups and proscribes acts of vigilantism in the country. creates offences specific to political party vigilante groups, the phenomenon of land guards and other acts of vigilantism.

The Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Michael Aaron Oquaye put the question for the passage of the bill.

Later in an interview , the Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice Hon Joseph Dindiok Kpemka urged the public to desist from acts of vigilantism to promote peace in the country .
