Western Basketball Association(WBA) in collaboration with Cosmos Masquerades is bringing street children and young stars together for fun, love and basketball games.
X’MAS basketball tournament is an annual event designed to bring teams from the various communities in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis, tertiary institutions and teams outside the Western region to a big outdoor event during the Christmas festivities which includes side attractions like a Dunk contest, 3-point shooting contest, Fun zone shootout, dance and musical concept.
This event is geared towards bringing these youths together during their festive season for them to have a fun day filled with competitive games and the development of basketball in the Western region.
There are a lot of people in the Western region who have never got the chance to enjoy watching these talented young stars playing basketball on the street, therefore this year’s X’MAS tournament is going to be a two-day full of fun and competitive open 3X3 street basketball tournament at Amanful main Spain around Abatan Drugstore where the street will be blocked on Friday 22nd for the preliminary stages and Saturday 23rd for the final stages.
PURPOSE
The main purpose of the event is to develop basketball in the Western region, generate funds to buy balls, team jerseys, and training bibs, build a new basketball court for communities, help in painting and maintenance of the 1st and 2nd cycle institutional court and also put a smile on the faces of street children and some orphanages.
However, since help or support hasn’t been coming from anywhere to build courts in communities the association decided to invest or save the registration fees of all basketball events (leagues, tournaments, competitions, etc.) that will be organized by the association in the bank to achieve the aforementioned projects successfully.
REGISTRATION AND PRICES
The registration fee for this year’s XMAS 3X3 Street Tournament is GHc 200 only.
The Cash Price for the first winner is GHc 1000 Second Place is GHc 500 Third Place is GHc 300 Trophies will also be awarded.
