Joint Select Committees on Local Govt & Rural Devt; Works and Housing; Environment, Science and Technology tours some waste facilities in Accra.

The joint Committee first visited, Lavender Sewage Treatment Plant, Integrated Recycling and Compost Plant Limited and Accra Compost Recycling Plant and Kpone Sewage Recycling Plant.

In an interview with Madam Betty Brown Nyanu, General Manager, Integrated Recycling and Compost Plant Limited called on government to support their operations.

According to her, the operational cost of the company is crippling the business and appealed on current government to pay some management fees to subsidies what that pay to sustain their operations.

Meanwhile the Vice Chairman of the Local Government is and Rural Development of Parliament and MP for Asunafo North, Suleiman Adamu Saniid said he support the call to support their operations and the select Committee will put up a proposal for government to consider.

He said their work is a social intervention which is solving a particular problem facing the country which need support.
