For its 40th anniversary, Nike will not only be honoring the iconic Bruck Kilgore design that is the Air Force 1, but they will also be honoring the communities that cemented the silhouette’s legacy in streetwear — and what better place to start than New York City.

For this special Anniversary Edition Nike Air Force 1 Low “Little Accra”, Nike show some love to the borough that New York’s Ghanian community calls home. Draped in traditional hues, decorated in ornate tapestry, and packed full of meaningful motifs, the pair is elevated well and truly above a premium level. The rear sees a call-out to Little Accra itself, before capturing the New York community spirit with messages of “Sharing Stories” and “Building Community” on the insoles.
