Following an outstanding performance and victory at the 23rd edition of the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, rapper Black Sherif continues to hone his distinct style with the official visuals for “Kwaku The Traveller,” which is set to premiere later this month.

Since its exclusive release on March 27 as part of his performance set at the 5th edition of the 3Music Awards, the song has generated a lot of positive public reactions and impressive numbers on the major streaming stores. Its audioslide has garnered over 8 million streams on YouTube, over 6 million plays on Spotify, and over 21 million plays on Audiomack.

“Kwaku The Traveller” is the follow-up to the budding iconoclast’s lethal hit “Second Sermon,” which quickly became a watershed moment for Ghanaian Drill. On Kwaku The Traveller, however, he foregoes the vibrant uptempo production of “Second Sermon” in favor of a sombre instrumental that complements his reflective lyricism.

He uses a suave blend of English and Ghanaian Pidgin, sprinkled with bits and pieces of Akan, briefly departing from his previous style, which saw him leaning full-tilt towards Akan as his primary medium of delivery.

On Tuesday, Spotify announced  Black Sherif on its global emerging artist programme RADAR.

The fast-rising Ghanaian hip-hop artiste joins five other emerging African talents: Victony (Nigeria), Ayra Starr (Nigeria), BNXN (Nigeria), Buruklyn Boyz (Kenya), and DBN GOGO (South Africa), whose creative works will be amplified by Spotify in the region through ongoing marketing and editorial support.

The new addition represents the streamer’s commitment to supporting artists across all genres and stages of their development. Through this program, Spotify will shine a spotlight on the confirmed talents and expose them to new global fan communities on the platform.
