The President of the Republic has reiterated the government’s unflinching solidarity and willingness to support the country’s creative arts sector, describing the Creative Arts Senior High School as an innovative institution that will serve as a “beacon for many young and talented people seeking a fulfilling career in this field.”

Delivering the 2022 State of the Nation Address on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday (March 30), President Nana Akufo-Addo, who observed the enormous potential for Ghanaians in the creative arts, fashion and film industry said, his government is committed to unleashing the creativity, enterprise and innovation of the youths, by giving them education and skills training in the Creative Arts.

“Mr. Speaker, there is great potential for our people in the creative arts, fashion, and film industry. We want to unleash the creativity, enterprise and innovation of our youth, by giving them education and skills training in the Creative Arts. The Creative Arts Senior High School, in Kwadaso, whose construction is currently seventy percent (70%) complete, will serve as a beacon for many young and talented people, seeking a fulfilling career in this field.”

The Creative Arts Senior High School, in Kwadaso, whose construction is currently seventy percent (70%) complete, commenced in December 2019 and is expected to be completed sometime this year ahead of the commencement of the 2022/2023 academic year. The school will equip students for the Arts, through powerful learning experiences, embrace and excel in the arts and academics, whilst working towards their visions of the future.

The vision, during the sod-cutting government, stated to ensure that the school would spearhead the nation’s bid to identify and harness young talents in areas encompassing literature, music, drama, visual arts, film, dance, sound engineering and film production. In 2020, stakeholders began the operationalization process and put together people from the creative arts industry to help design the curriculum.

The Project has been designed to include the following 2-storey administration block; library block; auditorium / theatre (1,300 designed capacity); 4-storey 16-unit creative arts block with ancillary facilities; 4-storey 20-unit classroom block with 4 dedicated laboratory rooms; 3-storey dormitory block; 2-storey dormitory block; dining hall with kitchen; principal’s residence; 2 vice principals’ residence, 2 no. staff flats; sports area; maintenance shed; waste treatment/holding bay; access roads and paved walkways; and gate house
