Some former NDC government officials will in the coming days be hauled before the country’s courts after allegedly misappropriating funds allocated for the Saglemi housing project.

According to Minister of Works and Housing, Samuel Atta Akyea, despite the state paying more than 90% of the contract sum, it was shocking to note that the contract was varied to 1,000 housing units from the original 5,000 with contract sum remaining the same. Appearing before Parliament to answer questions about the state of the project, Mr Atta Akyea wondered whether the erstwhile Mahama administration had been bewitched by contractors of the project to sign such a dubious contract leading to the embezzlement of funds.

Th Minister also added that the Ghana Institute of Surveyors have been engaged to conduct value for money Audit report and upon completion of the report, it would be send to the AG for prosecution to commence.
